The Need According to the Department of Defense there are presently approximately 1,406,830 service members on active duty in the Armed Services, plus their dependents. Over seventy-five (75) percent of these are under the age of 25. These men and women are away from home and often separated from families. In the midst of their crises they desperately need spiritual guidance and support of one who can help them find Christ, live for Him and grow in spiritual maturity under adverse circumstances. It was General George Marshall who said that the spiritual life of the soldier was far more important than his physical fitness and equipment. He believed "that unless the soldier’s soul sustains him, he cannot be relied upon in battle." |
